I just had a similar thought regarding illegal immigrants. That would give Obama a lot of voters. Note however that not all 20mln would be eligible to vote (unless that number includes adults only).

It's great to hear from a McCain - Palin supporter, someone who isn't afraid to speak out in fear of being called a racist. Both John McCain and Sarah Palin were truly inspiring, and it's just too bad we are now stuck with Obama - Biden for the next four years. Hopefully in the next election Sarah Palin won't run for Vice President -- she'll be running for President instead.

There were three deaths: Donald Young, Larry Bland, and Nate Spencer. I listened to the complete press conference of Larry Sinclair. No one is investigating this. No one is talking about the You Tube video of Omar Ghaddafi endorsing Obama. What is up with all this?

There's no such thing as a clean politician so it's best to choose between the lesser of two evils. Would you rather have an old fart like McCain in office with his bimbo running mate? I'll take my chances on someone who can at least play the role. In the meantime, check ALL the facts. Be cool!

McCain getting back into the debate is a purely political move, like everything else he does... it's not that he wants to inform Americans or demonstrate his know-how, he just thought thought not showing up to the debates would make him look bad

Cid - thanks for the comments.

Like McCain-Palin, I'm for an all-of-the-above energy plan that requires unlimited US drilling to lower prices immediately and provide a bridge until the alternative technologies catch up.

See my Quick-Read Energy Plan @ http://look2thewest.wordpress.com/2008/07/15/a-quick-read-energy-plan-2-2/

Thanks again...

"...if Democrats never allow a vote on drilling, the great American economy will grind to a halt, threatening everything we contribute to the world."

You had a pretty convincing argument up until this bombastic bonehead statement. I'm all for drilling, but I'm tired of hearing everyone say it's an all or nothing type of situation. We'll manage just fine with or without drilling now. What will differ is how we go about it.

I like the idea of the oil companies giving up rights to drill on land they currently don't use. If they want to go drill in Alaska they should give up rights to thousands of acres of land currently underutilized.

I would like to hear more about either candidates/party's stand on nuclear energy. Wouldn't it make sense to invest now in facilities that are away from population centers and can store their waste on-site. Why build a nuke plant on Long Island when you can build ten in the desert in Nevada? Why are we not building more refineries?

I guess the point is that we can be doing 101 different things to wean us off of our petro-economy. Drilling in Alaska and elsewhere should only be a part of a much bigger strategy.

Also, being an independent voter, I find myself a little turned off by McCain's choice of VP. I'm not sure if it was the pandering to the right wingers or the obvious ploy (which backfired) to lure Clintonites. I would have believed his "Change" pitch better if he had picked Joe Lieberman. McCain would have likely grabbed a large swath of independents and Clintonites.

One other note...I didn't see any Republicans staying in Washington to work for their "vacation". Both parties do this every year and then point fingers at each other...yawn. BS as usual...

Nice blog....
